Bad Girls was a British series that ran from June, 1999 to December, 2006. It was about a prison where inmate, Nikki Wade, (tall, dark and sexy brunette played by Mandana Jones) falls in love with the wing governor, Helen Stewart (smokin' Scott played by Simone Lahbib) with all the trials and tribulations that involved. Well, to be fair, the Helen/Nikki plot-line only occurred in the first three seasons of the show, and was one subplot among a multitude involving the prisoners and the administration, but it was the only one that mattered to me. Plus, it wasn't subtext, it was main-text in a time where there wasn't a lot for us to watch. If you can find the show online or on dvd, I highly recommend you check it out. These stories pick up where the third season of the show ends, with Nikki and Helen riding off into the sunset with hot kisses on a London sidewalk which, sadly, seems like an even rarer occurrence for a lesbian storyline today than it was almost twenty years ago.
