Well the second season has been over for some time I know and I am only just commenting on it, but hey better late than never. This was a much better season, I loved the tie-ups with TOS, I even liked Captain Pike even though I prefer women in the main roles. No. One was good too and I enjoyed the tie-ups with The TOS pilot show. As to the characters I was very sorry to see Katrina Cornwell killed off but loved Jett Reno, she is a geat engineer, I do hope we see more of her in Season 3, the signs are looking good regarding that. I am trying to think of someone to pair her off with for some /fic but can’t think of anyone at the moment now that Admiral Cornwell. Now I am excited for Season 3, it can’t come soon enough for me and the signs are that it is going to be set in future - Hurrah!! *Bouncing up and down with excitement*

River, I don't think this iteration of ST is really following any timeline. I'm not really up on the timeline stuff though, so what do I know? However, it seems to me that they CAN keep making exciting stories. I mean, look at the first couple episodes (not that great, 6 or 7 on a 10 scale) but now, looking back I saw multiple events of starfleet treachery, pseudo Mother, Phillipa, and daughter, Michael, gay love, and it's not built around a Captain's POV. To me, it's a huge turnaround in the ST world to have these very strong women (and Tilly in her insecure, neurotic way) leading the story lines. Burnam is a major screw-up AND, simultaneously, brilliant. I think the show has taken a 90 degree turn in the last few episodes - it's getting into it's own skin. I hope it keeps pushing the envelope and does not fall into the trap of writing plots all-ready-been-done 100 times in other ST TV shows.

Wow, another brilliant episode. Admiral Cornwell is amazing and is really coming into her own, I am loving her, (her given name is Katrina, not a million miles from Kathryn you know ;-) Phillipa Georgiou is back and in the Captain’s seat, I totally called that one !!! ;-) There was so much in this episode. Slyvia Tilly was also excellent, so thoughtful and clever. I feel so sad for Stamets, is there going to be a twist to return his boyfriend to him. Perhaps they will ultimately be able to travel backwards in time, unlike the mirror universe. I am not up with all the Star Trek Timeline, did the Federation ultimately attack and desimate Qo’noS to win the war? I find it hard to know how the peaceful Federation we know and love comes out of this series.

Just copying this post to here. I hadn’t noticed that it says Star Trek, I just saw J/7. I must have become blinkered somehow ;-)

Glad you enjoyed the last two episodes jbuniverse. For those who don’t know Michelle Yeoh featured in them and they were brilliant. These episodes really explain why the series so far has not seemed like Star Trek and I personally am now wondering might we even eventually see a return of Michelle Yeoh as ‘The Captain’ !! Thank goodness we have finially got rid of Lorca and Admiral Cornwell is back :-)
I am now so excited about Star Trek Discovery and if anyone gave up on it after the first few episodes I really recomend giving it another chance and sticking with it at least until the end of the first season. I am so glad I watched it from the start because there wasn’t any news out there about what happens and everything came as a shock or surprise to me. Now I expect most people will know some of it before watching, for example that Captain Georgiou is killed in the first episode, and it will not be such a shock to them as it was to me.
I am even enjoying Cadet Tilly in the role she is playing now, although I still don’t see her as one half of a lesbian couple in fanfiction which it seems most STDisc femslash writers are doing at the moment. Mind you I had a hard time seeing Seven as a suitable partner for Janeway to begin with. My favourite STDisc character at the moment is Admiral Cornwell and could easily see her as part of a lesbian couple (well if you ignore the fact that she jumped into bed with Lorca :-( I would love to see more femslash stories about her. She reminds me a vaguely of Janeway, not in looks but in character, but that is probably only because she is an authority figure and is wishful thinking on my part.
Anybody watching AfterTrek, or is it only broadcast on Netflix which is how I watch STDisc ? After Trek is awesome, it is really filling you in on all the tidbits as we go along.

River, I just watched ST:Discovery episode 12 and 13 and HOLY FRAK! were they great. Honestly, the visuals are absolutely top notch. I've been so-so about this series up to now but these two episodes really hit the spot Trek-wise. Can't wait for ep 14 and the role Phillipa will play. Good stuff.
