Hugh Howey's books are available at my library! I will put them on my list. Thanks for the recommendation.
I'm about half way through The Stone Sky, the third book in N.K. Jemisin's Broken Earth series.
1- The Fifth Season
2-The Obelisk Gate
3- The Stone Sky

An oldie but a goodie is Hugh Howey's three part series; 1) Wool, 2) Shift and 3) Dust. It's an end of the world scenario where all of humanity is in underground silos. What drew me to this series is the protagonist who is one tough woman. I thought it was a little slow to begin with and honestly, all that walking up and down the silo stairs tired me out! But hang in, if you decide to try it, the payoff is BIG!
I've also just picked up David Weber's Honor series again, also showcasing a smart, tough woman. Lots of weird world and peoples names which I'm not a fan of in space operas but hopefully I'll catch on.

Hi Logical... Started Ancillary Justice and couldn't get through it... but I had just finished James S. A. Corey's last installment of The Expanse, 'Persepolis Rising', and I think I was still stuck in that world. I'll give Ann Leckie another go. Also thanks for the tip on 'Lock In'. I'm always looking for good sci-fi.

I just finished The Fifth Season by N. K. Jemisin. It was great. I highly recommend it.
Other good sci-fi books I've read are:
Lock In by John Scalzi. - The main character is not referred to as a specific gender. The audio books are available read by male or female actors. (Will Wheaton does the male version)
Ancillary Justice by Ann Lechie. - Someone recommended this in the book thread on the old message board. It was another great read. Also, the gender of the main character is not specified, left ambiguous. Anybody who's read the book have an opinion on this?
Book recommendation: The Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells The Murderbot Diaries - Wikipedia
